Transfer Case Spotlight: Friso's Venge

The Transfer Case Spotlight is a series of blog posts dedicated to highlighting rider stories using the Transfer Case, an interesting bike they’re traveling with, or anything worth mentioning.

In this post, Friso shared with us his 62cm Venge in the 150L Transfer Case. On a recent trip to his home in The Netherlands, he was excited to find a new (old) Specialized Venge for sale. As we all know, finding bikes in the pandemic has been a challenge and so when a NOS older-generation Venge was available, in his size, he jumped on it.

(As a personal aside here, this was a great generation of Specialized’s Venge as it featured relatively standard components and external cables and rim brakes which makes it perfect for both riding and traveling.)

But what made it interesting was that Friso had little experience in wrenching on his own bikes before using the Case. He learned through videos and reached out to me when he had a specific question about his bike. After just a few trips, he's confidently packed his Venge and traveled with it like a pro.

When it came back to traveling, to Vietnam where he works, he went on holiday with family. Of course, the bike had to come with them. No problem. All of them in a single vehicle to their destination after the flight.

He’s also taken the bike to the mountain town of Da Lat, where he and I rode and pushed up climbs one chilly morning. Way to go, Friso!
